Baroness Lynda Chalker, Trustee of the UCT Trust, kindly hosted an alumni reception at the House of Lords to launch UCT’s new major fundraising campaign, Distinguishing UCT.  Guest Speaker, Em Prof Shula Marks OBE, gave a talk about the life of Cecil John Rhodes, followed by Vice-Chancellor Dr Max Price who spoke to the gathering about UCT’s recent successes and ongoing challenges.  UK Trustee, Richard Gnodde, announced the wonderful news that R91m had already been raised in the UK during the silent campaign.  Alumni present were invited to make their contribution, to help reach the target of R100m from UK alumni.
